Description

Make a charming autumn-themed door hanger using recycled cardboard and colorful beads.

Materials

  • Recycled cardboard
  • Acrylic paint (red, orange, yellow, and green)
  • Colorful beads
  • String or twine
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • Pencil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cardboard: Start by cutting out a large leaf shape from the recycled cardboard. Use a pencil to trace the outline of a leaf you like, then cut it out with scissors.
  2. Paint the base: Use acrylic paint to color the leaf with your chosen autumn colors. Make sure to cover both sides and allow it to dry completely.
  3. Create beaded accents: While the leaf is drying, cut lengths of string or twine. Thread a variety of colorful beads onto the string, creating a delightful pattern. Secure the beads at each end with a knot.
  4. Attach beaded strings: Once the paint is dry, use a hot glue gun to attach the string of beads to the leaf. You can glue one string to the top and another to the bottom or wherever you think it looks best.
  5. Finishing touches: To hang your door hanger, use an extra piece of string or twine. Tie it securely to the top of the leaf and ensure it’s long enough to hang at the desired height.

Notes

Use several thin coats when painting for a smoother finish and supervise younger crafters when using the hot glue gun.
